How better to feature a hot spot than to make it a date night? Husband and I drive by Mason Social all the time, and I was curious about this adorable little restaurant for a while. So of course when he suggested we turn a regular old weeknight into a happy hour hopping excursion through Old Town Alexandria, I was totally in. Our adventure began at Mason Social, and I can definitely recommend!
Mason Social has a really great atmosphere for meeting a group of friends, there’s plenty of room! Their drink menu had tons of specialty cocktails, and there were several I wanted to try. Husband and I both chose their signature Mason Punch because we were reminiscing about our time in London at the Punch Bowl (hence, punch). I don’t usually go for beverages made with grapefruit, but I didn’t regret it! Their house-made honey tarragon syrup paired with Vodka and grapefruit was punchy (literally) and refreshing. When we return for round two, I can’t wait to try the Red Sparrow – you can’t go wrong with Tito’s and blood orange!
We didn’t get a chance to check out the dinner menu, BUT we discovered possibly the best fried pickles in town! Seriously, my mouth is watering right now. After living in Florida, aka the South, we developed a love for fried pickles and had been searching for a place to get our fix. We definitely found it here! There were lots of things that were also tempting from their bar menu – House Tacos, Reuben Egg Rolls, Onion Rings… need I go on?
Next time you’re in the mood on a weekday for some great drinks and appetizers, check out Happy Hour at Mason Social! Their Happy Hour menu is available Monday-Friday from 3-7pm.
